Putting the "Pan" in The Pan-American Dream

Okay! Here is my exciting personal news! It was a rainy day in Puerto Rico, I've been taking classes last week and this week to receive my Living Foods Lifestyle certificate, I'm still working full time, and preparing to leave the Ann Wigmore Natural Health Institute (for now)... so I'm exhausted. The video may not express my excitement as well as I would like... but I'm excited!!!

(P.S. I'm becoming conscious of my "And" fillers and am working to remove those for more concise videos when I'm too tired or lazy to edit.)

LET'S GO ON A 60 DAY TRAVEL ADVENTURE! VOTE FOR OUR VIDEO!

Yo!  Marty here!  I have some momentum building on this project!  I'm volunteering at the Rincon Film Festival in Puerto Rico next week and recruiting for a film workshop- I have 1 participant so far.  There will also be another cool announcement which I can't say yet!  But the coolest announcement is this:

We've submitted a video entry for Viator's Dream Travel Video job!  They're looking for 2 more travel videographer's to partake on a 60 Day adventure in either North America or Europe starting May or June!

You can vote once a day.

Kelly and I would be perfect for this!  It would really build our resume and open the door for traveling filmmaker possibilities!

Thanks for reading and voting!

Also, there's a new post on my blog about my experience in Puerto Rico the last month.  Check it out!

Take care of yourselves and stay tuned!

Love + Gratitude,

-Marty

The Dreams + Adventures Live On: Puerto Rico + Chile?

Hola!

Marty here giving you an update from Puerto Rico where I'm volunteering at the Ann Wigmore Natural Health Institute while continuing to learn the Living Foods Lifestyle which I began studying last summer while interning at the Creative Health Institute.

It's been a while since there's been any momentum on this project, which I see as an ongoing adventure that was on hold.  What I've found over the years is that I get energized by big ideas and goals which seem to alter and change over time.  They may not turn out as expected, but rather manifest eventually along a similar path with guiding intentions.

While reflecting after a break from directing commercials, I still realize that one of my favorite jobs and what gives me much joy is teaching; Not only film and photography, but my new interest in living foods.  Before leaving for Puerto Rico, I prepared an ambitious raw living foods for 20+ friends and family while teaching the basics of the lifestyle and demoing food preparation from pastas, salads, dressing, milks, pates, ferments, and desserts.

I'm happy to be in Puerto Rico where I'm rejuvenating some creative inspiration.  Last week at the market I met some people from the Rincon Cultural Center.  I'm going to begin Spanish lessons with them in a week or two and I'm in the process of setting up some youth film workshops.  Hopefully I can partner with the Rincon Film Festival in April.

Kelly's in Colorado working as a snowboard instructor and may be coming to Puerto Rico in May.

We're also applying to teach English in Chile from July 23-November 30.

I'm also writing about my experience in Puerto Rico on my personal Changing Blog.  I just wrote a post with several photos on an awesome rainforest adventure.

Stay Tuned + Keep Dreaming!

Our Alaskan Road Trip in Less than a Minute

Hey Y'all,

We finally had time to sort through our ginormous amount of videos and photos.  It's been a long time coming... We cut the following spot out of the footage we shot.  Also, big thanks to Josh Condon who composed the music and is one of our Kickstarter backers!  Hope you enjoy!

A general update:
Kelly and I are currently doing independent adventures.  Kelly just became a raft guide in Vail, CO and I'm interning at the Creative Health Institute in Michigan.  I'm writing about my experience at CHI and transitioning to a 100% raw living foods diet HERE.

We'd also like to thank our Kickstarter backers who supported us to make this happen.  We'll keep ya updated as the adventures continue!

Hanging Drywall with Volcanoes. Lost and Found Camera Gear

If you missed these, here's 2 stories with photos from our Alaskan trip on Marty's blog:

Coming up soon is a video from our rafting trip on the Green River in Desolation Canyon, UT.  We'll show you how awesome it is to poop on a river (not pooping in the river, but on the "groover").

Car, Gear + Tips for Traveling on the Road

This video is about our car (the Chevy Aveo) and all the stuff we could fit in it while still sleeping inside. [Sleeping comfortably in an Aveo? Seriously? Yes. Video coming soon!] We mostly car camped for 3 months while traveling 10,000 miles to Alaska and back. It worked out quite well. Our over-packed tiny car should dispel the myth that the roads to Alaska are really bad - it was true back in the 60s but not anymore. You can make it! You should still look out for potholes though...

So check out the video below for tips on gear, cooking, living in a car, etc.

Any feedback or questions? Leave us a comment. Thanks!

(P.S.  Sorry the video turnaround is a bit slow... We meant to post this in October...)

We Can Make You Fly on Kickstarter.com!

We're pushing to get support from A LOT of people but with smaller pledge amounts on our Kickstarter Fundraiser.  To do so, we're offering a NEW REWARD for ALL BACKERS!  We're gonna make you fly! How?  With a big model rocket dream that I never realized as a kid.  It symbolizes going after your dreams and the incredible potential of realizing them.  A mere $5 pledge will go a long way if we get the support of many.  See the video for more details.

(Unfortunately, Kelly has been out of town working... but we're planning more videos together when she's back.)

Also, we've been getting a lot of great feedback on our Youtube channel as well as thoughtful emails from people we haven't even met yet!  We love this support!!!  Thank you so much!  Get inspired, make dreams happen!

Peace,

-Marty

We Have a Pan-American Dream!

Welcome everyone to our blog!

We are Marty + Kelly and we're preparing for a long expedition from Ann Arbor, MI to Alaska to Argentina!  Our journey will start on July 6th, 2010 and we'll be traveling mostly by road.  Yikes!  That's pretty soon...

We are filmmakers/photographers who want to travel, create our own art, teach free film/photography workshops to youth, explore local food, and document our experience.

Follow our blog and stay updated with all our preparations and travels of making this Pan-American Dream come true!

Thanks!!!
